Karleigh Black

At just 11 years old, Karleigh is already making a name for herself as a gifted dancer and multi-talented performer. With eight years of dance training—five of which have been at the TMJ School of Dance—Karleigh has consistently demonstrated exceptional skill, passion, and dedication. Her hard work has earned her numerous accolades, including being named the 2023 TMJSOD Student of the Year.

Beyond her training at TMJSOD, Karleigh has expanded her artistic horizons by participating in prestigious performing arts programs, including:

  • TBAAL Summer Arts & Extensive Program

  • Broadway Dreams in Dallas & New York

  • The Ailey Experience in Dallas

  • Manhattan Dance Project

​

Her commitment to excellence was recognized when she was honored with the TBAAL Summer Enrichment President’s Award.

​

Karleigh has also showcased her talent on professional stages, performing in high-profile productions such as:

  • The Emmy Award-winning "King Concert" at The Black Academy of Arts & Letters

  • The "Tina Turner Tribute" at The Black Academy of Arts & Letters

​

The "Broadway Dreams" showcase in New York City

In addition to being a standout in the arts, Karleigh is an honor student and a member of the Academic Decathlon, demonstrating the same level of dedication to her academics as she does to her craft. She is also deeply involved in her church’s youth ministries, serving in the Motions of Praise Dance Ministry and God’s Young Servants Youth Choir.

With ambition and drive that know no bounds, Karleigh aspires to become a historian and one day join the prestigious EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) Club—a testament to her bold vision and limitless potential. The stage is only the beginning for Karleigh, and her future shines as bright as her talent!
